It’s Tangle, the irresistible twistable toy inspired by an ancient Tibetan talisman that has delivered its Magic In The Motion for 90 million people around the world.

Zen sculptor, and CEO of Tangle, Inc., Richard X. Zawitz has been spreading the joy of Tangle since, 25 YEARS AGO, he first turned his most popular sculpture into what’s now being called The Miracle Toy.

“I’ve been witnessing the mini-Miracles for over two decades now, with Tangle changing lives, inspiring the lost, transforming bad energy in good, helping kids with disabilities to calm down and focus, teaching creativity to all ages and genders, and most of all, transmitting positive or happy energy planet wide.”

“I WON’T cease MY goal to make sure EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD on this planet EXPERIENCES THE JOY AND HAPPINESS OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS.” bubbles Zawitz.

“Is it any wonder Tangle has earned its reputation as The Miracle Toy?” says Child play and toy expert Stevanne Auerbach, better known as Dr Toy.  “Over the years toys have become very complicated and unfortunately violent, how wonderful to have Tangle in our world to help inspire kids to think creatively”

The inspiration for Zawitz’s Miracle Toy was discovered during his journey to discover the most fundamental three-dimensional energy forms known to mankind. This happened while trekking through and the Himalayas in the 1970s.  It was the discovery of the Tibetan Infinite Knot, a twisting, intertwining Buddhist talisman with no beginning, no middle, and no end that finally crystallized that search for the Rosetta Stone of all matter that Zawitz had been seeking.  (This has since been validated by the foremost “String Theorists” who use Tangle as the model to demonstrate String Theory, the theoretical combining of all matter into one grand formula, hypothesized originally by Einstein in his unproven “Unified Field Theory.”)

“I learned that monks have used its infinite shape carved in wood or stone or cast in precious metals for their spiritual journeys to reach nirvana.   And it generates the same positive energy that is the basis of feng shui,” says Zawitz.  “I wondered if that same powerful positive energy could be transmitted through other materials to reach as many people as possible, to share this wonderful discovery that made me feel so good.  I meditated on it and had visions of an animated, Infinite Knot that twisted and magically morphed into endlessly shifting shapes.”

Zawitz’s vision became his obsession until finally the creative breakthrough occurred in his studio in Boston in the mid 70’s. “I discovered a unique and novel way of combining 90 degree sections of  doughnut shaped tubes in solid wood. I experimented until I had a work of art that felt really good in my hands and heart. After a public show, it was confirmed, my sculpture/invention was wonderful.  The attendees couldn’t put it down, everybody wanted one. It was then that my life’s work became clear, I needed to make these sculptures for everyone to share in the joy.”  And doing so was not only possible, it was instant fun!  Soon Zawitz found all his time consumed by fulfilling requests for “that fun twisty thing.”

“It was destiny,” remembers Zawitz.  “When you discover one of the keys to Happiness, you have an obligation to share it with everyone.”  His relentless

search turned into a business.

And thus Tangle Toys was born in 1981, with a vision and a mission to produce plastic versions of the artist’s model people loved so much.  They were an immediate success and it wasn’t long before Zawitz became known as The Tangleman as he traveled from city to city and continent to continent, like a preacher with a story that had to be told.  “Please enjoy the magic of this toy,” he will say to anyone as Zawitz gives away tens of thousands of Tangles each year at shows and public events. Just about anywhere he goes, his magic bag always full of his Miracle Toys. passionately introducing Tangle’s Twisted Good Fun to one and all.

“The greatest miracle of all has been handing Tangles to complete strangers all around the world and watching the joy and happiness it always gives them.  I’ve just never seen it fail.  Even more than our business success, that’s what keeps me going with as much enthusiasm today as the day I started,” beams Zawitz.

Zawitz says that one of the most fascinating aspects of Tangle’s Miracle is the mere fact it has remained a thriving business after 25 years of producing a toy in the notoriously trendy come-and-go world of toys, Tangle’s long term consistent growth has achieved evergreen status. “Our industry is very complicated and difficult, yet it’s one of the most rewarding on the planet, helping so many people from all walks of life.  What more could you ask for?” states Zawitz emphatically.

Along the way Tangle has enjoyed partnerships with the world’s most popular consumer brands including Mattel, McDonald’s, Coca Cola, Kellogg, Disney, and Nickelodeon to name a few.

“From a wide variety of Tangle puzzles, Tangle pens, Tangle Baby toys, Tangle lamps, Tangle key chains, LED light-up Tangles, Tangle construction sets, Tangle Museum Art Editions to the amazing stuff that goes in the Tangle research labs seeking to improve even more on the magical formulas involved.  I won’t stop searching for exactly that perfect form; where mind meets matter, until I die” says the bug-eyed, revved-up toy maker turned missionary.

Making Zawitz smile are Tangle’s 2006 sales, the highest in the company’s history.  And Zawitz sees no end in sight.

After 25 years of patiently building Tangle’s popularity and brand through good times and bad, how does Zawitz feel now that Tangle is the talk of toy fair?  And just for emphasis, Richard X. Zawitz, who calls himself  Tanglemaster on his business card says “I really feel more than ever that I can get a Tangle Miracle Toy into the hands of every man, woman and child on this planet . . . I know it, I feel It . . . spread the word, please,” as he hands me yet another of his marvelous invention. One thing for sure, if sheer determination and positive energy will help you reach your goals, this guy is going to make it.
